NiCO3,nickel carbonate

The molecule formula of nickel carbonate is NiCO3, and its properties are oblique light green crystals, which are decomposed above 300 C. Soluble in ammonia and dilute acid. It is insoluble in water. It is soluble in pure water containing CO2, soluble in ammonia water and dilute acid, insoluble in cold concentrated hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. When heated in the air, oxides are formed. The reaction with ammonium chloride solution yields CO2 and NH3, leaving nickel chloride (II) solution.

Nickel carbonate is an important nickel compound. The known forms of nickel carbonate are ortho-nickel carbonate, basic nickel carbonate and acidic nickel carbonate, which are usually obtained by the interaction of nickel nitrate with aqueous soda solution. Because of the different preparation methods, pure nickel carbonate and acid nickel carbonate are few, mainly basic nickel carbonate.

Nickel carbonate is an important chemical raw material, widely used in industrial catalysts, precision electroplating, printed circuit board electroplating, general alloy electroplating, Nickel-Nickel alloy electroforming, ceramic industry and other industries.

Alkali nickel carbonate is a raw material for the manufacture of various nickel salts, and it is a new chemical product which is gradually replacing the traditional petrochemical catalysts.

In recent years, with the enhancement of environmental protection consciousness of the whole society, the traditional petrochemical catalyst nickel nitrate has been polluted by nitrogen oxides, while the basic nickel carbonate has no nitrate and no nitrogen oxides pollution. It is a new type of catalyst for petroleum processing. It will gradually replace the traditional petrochemical catalyst nickel nitrate and the market demand.
