Precautions for Lithium perchlorate

Submitted by admin on Wed, 10/31/2018 - 09:11

Lithium perchlorate is an inorganic compound and belongs to perchlorate. It is a white or colorless crystalline salt. It has high solubility and is easily soluble in many solvents. Lithium perchlorate can be used as an oxygen source, which decomposes at about 400 ° C, producing lithium chloride and oxygen, the latter accounting for 60% of the mass. Lithium perchlorate is a perchlorate having the highest oxygen mass fraction and volume fraction in addition to the expensive and highly toxic perchlorate.

Risk overview:
Health hazard: This product is irritating to the eyes, skin, mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.
Explosion hazard: This product is flammable and irritating.

Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of running water.
Eye contact: Lift eyelids and rinse with running water or saline. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Remove quickly from the scene to fresh air. Keep the airway open. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, perform artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water and induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures:
Hazardous combustion products: chloride, lithium oxide.
Extinguishing method: use mist water or sand to extinguish the fire.

Leakage emergency treatment:
Emergency treatment: Isolation of contaminated areas and restrictions on access. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear a dust mask (full face mask) and wear a protective suit. Do not allow spills to come into contact with organics, reducing agents, or flammable materials.

Small amount of leakage: covered with dry lime, soda ash, collected in a closed container. It can also be rinsed with a large amount of water, diluted in water and placed in the wastewater system.

Large amount of leakage: collected or transported to a waste disposal site for disposal.

Handling and storage:
Handling precautions: closed operation, full ventilation. Operators must be specially trained to strictly follow the operating procedures. Operators are advised to wear a hood-type electric air-filtered dust-proof respirator, a polyethylene anti-virus suit, and rubber gloves. Keep away from fire, heat, and smoking in the workplace. Keep away from flammable and combustible materials. Avoid dust. Avoid contact with the active metal powder. Lightly load and unload during handling to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with the corresponding variety and quantity of fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may be harmful residues.

Storage Precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The package must be sealed and not exposed to moisture. It should be stored separately from easy (combustible), active metal powder, etc., and should not be mixed. The storage area should be provided with suitable materials to contain spills.
