Cerium trichloride, CAS: 7790-86-5, is an anhydrous anhydrous Cerium trichloride or Cerium trichloride polyhydrate that is irritating to the eyes, respiratory system and skin. Appropriate protective clothing is required. Used in petroleum catalysts, automotive exhaust catalysts, intermediate compounds and other industries. Also used in the manufacture of metal enamel.

Cerium(III) chloride, CAS 18618-55-8, is a colorless, moisture-decomposing block crystal or powder. When exposed to moist air, it quickly absorbs moisture to form a hydrated composition. Soluble in water, soluble in acid and acetone. Used as a raw material for the preparation of cerium and other cerium salts, petroleum catalysts, and Lewis acids in organic synthesis. Cerium trichloride can be used as a raw material for the preparation of ytterbium triflate, the latter being a Lewis acid in organic synthesis for the Friedel-Craft acylation reaction.
